Common questions
Does TypeTray install anything?
Not while you browse: a font is registered inside the app's own process and the system sees nothing. Activate on a family registers it for every app and holds through a restart, and Deactivate takes it back.
Can it manage the fonts I already have?
Installed fonts sit in the sidebar beside your own folders. macOS activates whatever lives in a Library folder, so those get Disable, which moves the file aside and can be undone. Remove puts a file in the Trash, after asking.
Will it touch my font folders?
Not on its own. An added folder is read-only: nothing is written, copied or renamed there, and dropping it from the sidebar only forgets the pointer. Files move when you ask for Remove or Disable, and not before.
Do my fonts leave my Mac?
Never. Everything happens locally; the only network calls are update checks and feedback you choose to send.
What does it need to run?
macOS 14 or later and a 6 MB download.
How big a library can it handle?
The daily test library is 20,738 files in 3,883 families. A cold scan takes about twenty seconds, every later launch is under half a second.
What does it cost?
$39, once. One licence covers three Macs and does not expire. The first fourteen days are free and ask for no card.
