TypeTray has no account, no sign-in and no analytics. It does not report which fonts you own, open or search for. Your library is read on your Mac and stays there.

What leaves your Mac

Update checks. The app asks plkv.works whether a newer version exists, and downloads it when you say so. Like any web request this leaves the usual server-log trace: an address, a time, the version being fetched.

Licence activation. When you enter a key, it goes to Polar along with the name your Mac calls itself, so the licence window can show you which machines are using the licence. That name is the only thing about your computer that is sent.

Feedback you send. ⌥⌘F sends your message, and the screenshot only if you keep it attached, to a private issue tracker. Nothing is sent unless you press send.

The built-in collection. Turning on the TypeDump library downloads those open fonts from plkv.works. It is off unless you switch it on.

Crash reports and launch counts. If TypeTray crashes, the stack trace goes to Sentry along with the macOS and app version and the model of Mac. Each launch also sends one line saying a copy of this version started, which is how many people use it is counted at all; it carries a random install id and no name, address or account. No font names, no paths, no library. Settings has a switch to turn all of it off.

Buying

Checkout runs on Polar, who sell TypeTray as merchant of record and see your payment details; this site and the app never do. What reaches us afterwards is an order with an email address, so the licence key can be sent and support can find your purchase.

This website

plkv.works uses Google Analytics for page counts, with advertising and personalisation switched off. The waitlist form stores the address you type until the launch mail goes out. The download link counts downloads and nothing else.

Asking for your data, or its removal

Write to help@plkv.works. An address can be removed from the waitlist or mailing list at any time, and every mail carries an unsubscribe link. Orders and their receipts are kept by Polar for as long as tax law requires.
